A clinician prescribes fresh fruits and vegetables — and your plan helps pay for them. The most accessible Food Is Medicine intervention, and one FareRx offers as part of our full program stack for health-plan and employer partners.
A produce prescription is a Food Is Medicine intervention in which a healthcare provider prescribes fresh fruits and vegetables, and the patient receives vouchers, subsidies, or a benefit card to obtain them — usually at grocery stores or farmers markets. It is the lowest-clinical-intensity FIM intervention, designed to make healthy eating affordable and remove cost as a barrier to better nutrition.
FareRx offers produce prescriptions as part of a complete Food Is Medicine program. Because members choose their own produce, engagement stays high — and produce prescriptions pair naturally with our medically tailored groceries and nutrition counseling for members who need more clinical guidance over time.

Produce prescriptions expand access. These interventions add clinical structure and guidance when a member needs more support.
Condition-specific groceries and recipes provide more clinical guidance when a flexible produce benefit is not enough on its own.
One-on-one dietitian care helps members choose and use produce in ways that support their diagnosis, medications, and goals.
