What to do with bell peppers

Bell peppers are crisp vegetables that can be eaten raw or cooked until sweet and tender. Remove the stem and seeds, then cut them into strips, rings, or small pieces depending on the meal.

What it tastes like

Fresh and slightly sweet, becoming softer and sweeter with heat.

Why it's useful

Bell peppers work as a raw snack, a quick skillet vegetable, or the base of a full meal, making them one of the most flexible vegetables in the Kitchen.

3 ways to use it

  1. 01
    Slice for dipping

Cut into strips and serve with hummus, cream cheese, or a yogurt dip.

  2. 02
    Sauté with onions

Cook sliced peppers in a hot pan until tender with a few browned edges.

  3. 03
    Roast or stuff them

Roast pieces on a sheet pan, or fill pepper halves with grains, beans, chicken, or eggs.

Keep it fresh

  • Keep whole bell peppers refrigerated and wait to wash them until ready to use.
  • Store cut peppers in a covered container in the refrigerator.
  • Soft peppers are often still useful for soups, skillets, and roasting if they show no signs of spoilage.
